Dominique La Roche has been designing for the last 15 years, operating as a costumer, a stylist, an accessories craftsman, a Mas’man in Carnival and a fashion designer. Reading for a BFA at the Caribbean Academy of Fashion Design at the University of the West Indies, he is constantly working in the areas of wardrobe management and image consultancy, honing his expertise as a fashion connoisseur.
Dominique avows his belief in the “Caribbean aesthetic.” He feels as a designer, that he is obligated to contribute his part to the shaping of the Caribbean fashion mosaic, particularly given his fascination with and his interpretation of the reverse appliqué Molar art technique done by the Kuna/Cuna tribe of the San Blas Islands of Panama.
